Oh, my gosh – all of my childhood, when I look back? I’m sure that’s not true. I had happiness in my childhood, largely; but also some difficulties. When I think about small me now I realize how little empathy I was given, even from well-meaning adults. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I felt wrong, so often, until maybe a year ago. Like I was existing in a narrow hallway sandwiched between my own tension and the tensions of others who either expected me to be a certain way or didn’t care about me one way or another.
